Barry C. Kleiman a native of Philadelphia, Pa and alumni of the Pennsylvania State University began his executive search career during 1972 in New York City.

On April 1 of 1977 Barry came to the San Francisco Bay Area for a week long vacation and to visit some friends…

“April Fools”!

That “week” turned into three weeks and upon the delayed to Manhattan, all critical belongings were packed…on the day of his 27th birthday Barry moved to Albany, CA in and around where he’s resided since.

He founded the executive search firm Barry C. Kleiman & Associates during April 1980 in Emeryville, CA…the firm itself and Barry have remained a fixture in that space to the present day.

 

From the “pre-Apple” days of Silicon Valley to the current “Facebook/Google” days the breadth and depth of Barry’s experiences along with the relationships he’s forged have afforded him a unique, respected “brand”.

Beyond Executive Search and Executive Development –

Barry’s major at Penn State was Physical Education…“the only thing I ever knew I wanted to do was to teach and coach”.

  • Founded an interscholastic basketball program at a school where no other athletics of any kind existed. This included coaching Boys and Girls Varsity and Junior Varsity for 5 years.

Through those efforts there now stands a $5,000,000 gymnasium and multi-purpose room on the asphalt lot that was the first home to the teams

  • Coached Boy’s Basketball at Berkeley High from 2001 – 2006 with accomplishments that included a 24-0 JV team and a Varsity team that won the Yellowjackets first North Coast Section championship in 25 years
  • Varsity Coach for the El Cerrito High, Lady Gauchos
  • Gold Medal for JCC, Contra Costa County in the Maccabi Games 2008
  • Silver Medal winner in 2004, 2005, 2012 and Bronze Medal winner in 2011 JCC Maccabi Games
  • California State Senate Award in 2011 for contribution to Bay Area youth
  • Appointed Head Coach, Team USA – Junior Boys Basketball, 19th Maccabiah (Silver Medal winner)
